Scrum keeps coming up in your work and no one has ever sat you down and explained what it actually is. SFC is the no-cost foundation that fixes that before you decide whether to go further.
Course Overview
You don't need to commit to becoming a Scrum Master or a Product Owner to earn SFC. You need to understand the framework well enough to follow a Sprint Planning, contribute in a Retrospective, and know what people mean when they say 'Definition of Done.' The course covers the five Scrum phases and 19 processes from the SBOK Guide, the three roles, the ceremonies, and how value actually gets delivered. It's free, it's self-paced, and the credential is valid for life with no renewal.
What You Will Learn
- How Sprints actually work, not just what the calendar looks like. The three roles and what each one is accountable for. What Sprint Planning, Daily Standup, Sprint Review, and Retrospective are supposed to produce. How Scrum delivers value earlier than Waterfall and what that means in practice. The vocabulary every Scrum conversation uses.
About the Course
- SFC is the entry point into the SCRUMstudy credential family — the right cert when you want a working understanding of Scrum before deciding whether the paid role-based tracks (SDC, SMC, SPOC, SAMC) fit your path. Free, self-paced, lifetime credential, no renewal required.
How the Course Works
- Online and self-paced through the VMEdu LMS at no cost. The preparatory course, the study materials, and the unproctored exam are all included. Free retakes. If you decide afterward that you want help applying what you learned, an optional Trinity advisory engagement is available on request.
Individual Outcomes
- You'll be able to follow Scrum conversations at work, participate in ceremonies without needing translation, and decide whether one of the paid role-based credentials (SDC, SMC, SPOC, SAMC) is worth your time. The credential itself is valid for life — no recertification.
Who this Course is For
- You if Scrum is showing up in your work and you've been faking the vocabulary. You if you're a manager evaluating whether your team should adopt Scrum. You if you're career-shifting into Agile work and want a credentialed starting point that costs nothing.
Organizational Outcomes
- If you're buying for a team about to adopt Scrum: SFC gets everyone on the same vocabulary at no cost before the role-based investments start. That alone saves the first three sprints from translation problems.
Why Choose this certification
- Before you spend $200 on SDC or $450 on SMC, you should understand what Scrum actually is. SFC is the cleanest way to get there without spending anything, and it qualifies you to walk straight into any of the higher SCRUMstudy certs.
Why choose Trinity
- You're earning a no-cost credential and most providers treat it that way — a link to a free exam, no support, no follow-through. Trinity is built around the opposite assumption: that even the free credential is a decision about your time. The same operational discipline that ran continuous-improvement programs on real industrial shop floors is what's behind why this cert is in Trinity's catalog at all. After SFC, if one of the paid tracks (SDC, SMC, SPOC, SAMC) starts to make sense, an optional Trinity advisory conversation is available to help you pick the right one for your role.
Accreditation & Recognition
- Trinity is a SCRUMstudy / VMEdu Authorized Training Partner (V.A.T.P.). Trinity provides training and enrollment support using VMEdu's accredited course content and platform; credentials are issued by SCRUMstudy (a brand of VMEdu Inc.) upon meeting their requirements. Trinity does not issue credentials directly.
